What Is MAT?
Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is a proven approach that combines carefully monitored medications with therapy to treat the whole person. These medications help relieve withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings that often lead to relapse. MAT is not simply about medication; it’s about creating a supportive environment where individuals can heal, grow, and build lasting recovery.
When used as prescribed, MAT does not impair a person’s mental, emotional, or physical abilities. In fact, research shows that MAT improves treatment outcomes, supports employability, and enhances overall quality of life.
Our MAT Program at Lake Point Recovery & Wellness
At Lake Point Recovery & Wellness, we offer MAT services using trusted medications such as Suboxone (Naloxone/Buprenorphine), Naltrexone, Antabuse, and others. These are paired with evidence-based counseling delivered by experienced professionals who guide clients through the emotional and behavioral aspects of recovery.
All MAT services are monitored by licensed medical professionals. Clients are supported as they safely stabilize, gradually taper off medication, and develop the tools needed for sustainable recovery. Our MAT program is available to clients in our Residential Treatment Program as well as those entering with MAT already in place.
Individualized Care and Coordination
If a client in residential treatment is interested in MAT, their counselor will assess their needs and consult with the Medical Director. The decision to begin MAT is always collaborative and based on clinical appropriateness. Once approved, the client works with their prescribing physician to create a personalized tapering plan, which becomes part of their overall treatment strategy.
Lake Point Recovery & Wellness also accepts clients already utilizing MAT from qualified and approved physicians. Before admission, we require a release of information for care coordination purposes and a written taper plan from the prescribing provider.
Accountability and Program Expectations
Because MAT is a structured and serious form of care, clients are expected to follow their individualized treatment plan. Non-compliance – such as refusing drug testing, diverting medication, or failing to adhere to the taper plan – may result in discharge from the program. Our priority is to maintain a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused environment for everyone.
