At Lake Point Recovery & Wellness in Arkansas, healing doesn’t happen in isolation. Child-Focused Therapeutic Services

Children whose mothers are in our women’s substance use disorder treatment​ program receive age-appropriate mental health services to promote emotional resilience, behavioral growth, and long-term healing.

  • Individual Play Therapy: Helps children process trauma, family changes, and emotional stress in a safe, developmentally appropriate environment.
  • Behavioral Therapy (CBT-Based): Support for emotional regulation, anxiety, anger, and maladaptive behaviors, often caused by exposure to substance use environments.
  • Trauma-Informed Care (for the parent and the child): Focus on healing adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), often tied to family substance use, domestic violence, or neglect.
  • Family Therapy Sessions: Engages both child and parent to rebuild/reunite, improve communication, and strengthen relationships disrupted by addiction.
  • Wrap-Around Support Services: Includes case management for clothing, food, education, and medical needs for children living with their parent in treatment.

Pathways 2 Learning (P2L) Early Education Program

P2L offers inclusive, trauma-informed early childhood education for all children affected by their families’ circumstances. Our goal is to nurture emotional development and learning in a stable, compassionate environment.

  • On-Site Therapy Services: Speech, Occupational, and Behavioral therapies are offered through contracted or referred licensed professionals.
  • Developmental Screenings: Identifies delays or concerns early on so that interventions and referrals can be made in partnership with community providers.
  • Behavioral Interventions: Support plans and one-on-one coaching for children struggling with emotional outbursts, social delays, or regulation issues.
  • Mental Health Consultation, if needed: Classroom and child-specific consultation provided by licensed professionals to support staff and families.
  • Trauma-Informed Classroom Practices: Teachers are trained to recognize trauma symptoms and use sensitive strategies to support healing and stability.
  • Family Therapy Referrals: For children and families facing difficult home situations or post-treatment reintegration, referrals are made to Lake Point or community partners.
  • Social-Emotional Curriculum: Evidence-based programs (like Conscious Discipline or Second Step) that teach empathy, emotion recognition, and self-regulation.
  • Screenings & Early Identification: Routine developmental, behavioral, and emotional health screenings to flag concerns early and build targeted support plans.
